Sooo, after seeing a video of someone infusing skittles into their vodka, I decided I would like to try some candy I am more fond of! Gummy raspberries for one jar, sour belts for the other! :B I'm lovin' the way the raspberry looks and smells. I'll try it in a week or so.
Having trouble finding bulk herbs nearby! Basil, especially. I hope to find some at an organic store about 20 minutes from here, where we've been getting our honey. If any one knows of a website that sells bulk herbs with low prices for shipping and handling, Please, Lemme know!

Looking forward to this weekend!
I will be bottling up my 'maple pale ale', and starting the Pumpkin Spice! Cinnamon Sweet Basil will be thrown together in my mead can. Starting to study how difficult it would be to grow my own barley and hops, Hopefully, my thumb is green enough to try growing a small amount inside, though I would prefer to be capable of building a small bio-dome in the yard, though digging frozen ground may be too much hassle with my 'free' time.
Tonight's tea consists of mugwart, fresh lemongrass and a [large] pinch of white sage.. it's still seeping for [hopefully] better taste and potency.
I'll remember to let you know in the morning!
best of luck to the endeavors of others, thanks for your interest!

This weekend needs to make my IPA! Oh, Wait, I do.
So today Chris pulled out a book of my mom's for me, 'herbal healing brews'! It's quite exciting and covers lots of methods as well as rituals from back in the 1600's surrounding these beverages. After looking though a Little saddened by what ingredients I would have fresh and available, I decided to simply add some maple syrup to my IPA kit! I think it will taste lovely, and give me a better idea of how much should be used for any other brew I would use the syrup for. I look forward to sharing the results next week! As well as more about this Awesome book he discovered. <3!

news on the brews....
My first kit, Russian Imperial Stout. Must say, I am impressed! ^_^ *licks lips with satisfaction
My next shall be trying to mix in some raspberry puree' in a blonde ale..decide if I enjoy making fruity beers or if I would enjoy just keeping fruit in the mead. ;) my ginger clove christmas eve mead is fermenting very well, though next time I know to bag up my herbs..it was quite a mess funneling the last gallon or more to try to get out all those whole cloves! Hah. After switching from the mixing container to the carboy, and after said funneling, about a half gallon was lost, and I felt that topping it off with water would lower the risk of unwanted inhabitants-but it concerned me at the same time for the strong flavor I was going for. I plan to bottle it near the end of next month, So I shall see how I think it's going then. wee!! ttfn

1st attempt at my own 'dream tea'
SSoo, I looked around best I could to figure what I could easily attain that is commonly used in these 'dream blends' I've heard about. I had been looking around for mugwort for quite a while, and noticed some today at a nearby store, 80 cents a bag! I grabbed a few, a little sage, and some rosehips. [not for dreaming, but have seen they are useful for extra vitamin c and hair growth, and that's always nice.]
I found a bag of un-caffeinated peach tea my mom must have purchased~so for my first mix, thew a bit of that in a bag, along with 1/4 ounce mugwart and a pinch of sage for the extra aroma & flavor. It's pretty bitter underneath the peachyness, but the smell makes it much more enjoyable. It is still good enough for my taste to not need sugar to tone it down, ;) so I'm happy with the flavor overall. I believe next time, I'll use half the amount of mugwart. After I recycle what is in my linen bag a couple more times ;) My dreams have been getting much more clear for me to remember, and I hope that with this to aid with relaxation and subconscious thoughts and such, I will be more lucid or at least more active in my sleep world. I am a little disappointed in myself for not recording dreams as of late, so I will try my best to find time after waking to write here.
Yay!
